1st Charles Reinke enjoyed a 4-1 +353 record on a night where none of his opponets managed to score above 400. His single loss came in round one to Dennis Lloyd as part of a two-on-one match; the painf of a 379-395 loss to Dennis was partially assuaged by a simultaneous 444-309 win against Bryan Benwitz. Of note, Charles' only bingo against Dennis was a phony MYCETES* (MYCELES is a word, as are MYXOMYCETES and ASCOMYCETES), while Dennis hismelf had two perfectly valid bingos (PESKIER and ENTREAT). Charles would go on to play his brother Thomas in rounds two and four, and miraculously emerge victorious from both scuffles (miraculous because of Thomas' recent dominance over his brother). Charles' bingos in those two matches included some low-probability finds like ELKHOUND and BLIGHTER.
2nd Bryan Benwitz went 3-1 +220 and averaging a club-best 438 per game across his four games. His aforementioned loss against Charles Reinke was agonizingly bingoless, but was immediately followed up by a 406-361 win against Helen Flores where a late QI for 31 proved to be a significant boon for Bryan. Even bigger boons were to be found in the next game as Bryan utterly obliterated Thomas Reinke by a score of 602-367. In addition to being the eighth feather in his "600+ points" cap (a cap which he has promised to model for us at our next meeting), it was his ninth time getting five bingos in a game. In this instance, the bingos were UNINSTAL, COLLAGES, POTHEAD, INTORTS, and ERUPTIVE. Reports that Thomas was able to bingo with REWIRES and WAVERING, putting the total bingo count for the game at seven, are unsubstantiated at this time.
