1st Andy Bohnsack overcame snow, wind, raucous Yu-Gi-Oh players, the wafting smell of delicious pizza, and untold hundreds of other obstacles in order to finish with a 490 per-game average, a perfect 4-0 record, and a towering spread total of +533. Andy was unstoppable almost from the very first play, with his round-one game against Sara McLaughlin ending in decisive victory, 517-319. Andy's winning effort was blemished by a phony LATRILE* (LAETRILE is the correct spelling), played alongside the valid OVERLIES, TINAMOUS, and HERBIEST. Andy's bingo output took a hit in round two, but his singular CITOLAS was still enough to take the win against Helen Flores, 437-374. The bingos flowed freely once again in the following game, as Andy slammed four more of them (NEONATE, AURICLES, STANING, IODATES) onto the board in a 517-326 win against Lynda Finn. The final feather in Andy's feather-festooned cap was a big 488-407 win against Thomas Reinke, where STEARIC, LEGATING, and SEAPORT were added to Andy's already overflowing list of bingos (new double-length scorecards with extra room for recording one's bingos are being printed as we speak).

2nd Dennis Lloyd reversed some recent 1-3 performances with a solid 3-1 +255 outing. Dennis did not seem to be destined for success after round one, which was a tough 273-429 loss to Helen Flores, who held Dennis bingoless while playing TOWNIES and TRUSTEE for herself. However, Dennis immediately turned things around with a 498-292 win versus Sara McLaughlin, having learned from Helen the foolproof technique of "bingo infinity times more often than your opponent" (Sara did not bingo while Dennis had DEIFIES and DILUTED; the math definitely checks out and should not be unnecessarily scrutinized). In round three, Dennis finally put a stop to a lengthy losing streak against Bryan Benwitz, once again holding his opponent bingoless and playing two of his own (WAGERER, PRODUCED) in a 392-335 win. Dennis picked up his third and final win against visiting Iowite Jordan Barger, 462-314; initially being from North Carolina, Dennis receives a pass for not displaying the expected levels of Wisconsinian hospitality.
