REINKE TWIN #1 (THE GOOD LOOKING ONE) EMERGES VICTORIOUS FROM NIGHT OF WORD COMBAT
1st Charles Reinke deployed his tiles with panache en route to 4-and-0 +170 night. His closest win was a seventeen-point squeaker versus visiting verbophile Steve Hartsman, 429 to 412.
2nd Thomas Reinke had only one loss (to his bro Charles) to mar his evening, going 3-1 +123. Opponents were dismayed at Thomas' anagramming prowess as he laid down ten bingo plays over the course of the night, including the nice 9-letter find INTIMATED.
3rd Visiting Milwaukeean (Milwaukeeite?) Bill Rexhausen showed that those from Brew City can throw down words with the best of them, putting up a record of 3-2 +143. He scored above 400 in his two losses to the Reinkes, and accumulated a monster 538 points against club director Richard Lauder, assisted by bingos of MARLINGS, FITTING and INTERNES.
JUNE SCOTT MAKES EASY WORK OF INTERMEDIATES
1st June Scott won her two games of the night, whomping both Aki and Sharlie Miura with scores of 408 and 361 respectively. She played two bingos on the night, SLASHED and STAGGER.
2nd Sharlie Miura had a 1-and-1 performance with a negative eighty spread. She won her first game of the night 323-314 against Dee Lillge.
Thirteen players came out to Barnes and Noble to shuffle tiles. We welcomed new player Bryan Benwitz, who tested his mettle at Lynda's recent tournament before journeying to our club. Peter Schmiedicke played the word of the week, ZONATION, one of his two bingos with a Z this week (the other being UNGLAZED).
