CHARLES REINKE’S 4-1 LEADS EXPERTS
1st Charles Reinke nicely took over the reins when his brother Thomas plunged off the winner’s seat this week, by recording a solid 4-1 +416 cume. Charles, bingo king at 10 this week, played three of them (FUGATES, PARDONER and SENOPIAS) in his best game of the night, a 509-369 victory vs. Richard Lauder.
2nd Andy Bohnsack finished in 2nd on a 3-1 +216 tally. Andy won a narrow win vs. Charles (384-371) in their closing match. Andy’s nice find of BOUTIQUE helped greatly there. BTW, BOUTIQUEY is also a good word.
3rd Lynda Finn finished 3rd with a 3-1 +175 total. Lynda, who enjoys at robust 422 average this year, suffered her sole loss vs. Leslie Seltzer 416-446. Lynda nailed down the word of the week, AQUALUNG in an earlier game with Mary Becker.
SUE GOLDSTEIN TOPS INTERMEDIATES
1st Sue Goldstein took top spot in an unusually small (4) field of Intermediates. Her closest game was her 323-288 win against veteran June Scott.
2nd Harwinder Dowd captured second with her own 2-1 -18 record. Harwinder managed a razor-edged win of 349-345 against Dee Lilllge, Harwinder’s bingo there of FEARING providing the margin.
3rd Dee Lillge rode a 2-2 +90 score card into 3rd. Dee recorded her high game of the year, a thumping 475-294 final game with Sue Goldstein, blessed with her three bingos, SEASONS, GINGERS and COLDEST on a pleasantly warm October eve.
16 scrabble players met at Attic Angels this week... Lynda Finn was awarded the $4 prize for the highest “G” play (in GROK), Shayla Dunn rounded up best low R, and the high O was given out to Barb Besadny and the final low K captured by Gal Salm.
Aki Miura is off to Japan for a few weeks, so we’ll miss seeing both him and Sharlie in the meantime. We all wish for safe travels to Aki.
Once more…THOMAS REINKE’S 4-0 AGAIN TOPS EXPERTS
1st Thomas Reinke ran his current winning streak to 12 straight, with only brother Charles providing a close game (408-378)…can anyone stop this human juggernaut? Stay tuned…
2nd Lynda Finn finished in 2nd on a 4-1 +320 tally. Lynda’s only close game that was a win came from her 375-339 besting as she played Leslie Seltzer. That was Lynd’a only game where she played only a single bingo (GERENTS).
3rd Richard Lauder finished 3rd with a 4-1 +282 cume. He won an interesting final game by a narrow 11 points (414-401) when his opponent, Charles Reinke, had to make a low scoring “Q” play late in a back-and-forth affair. Earlier, Charles played the word of the week, IODOPSIN.
JANET GRIESEL’S 3-1 TOPS INTERMEDIATES
1st Janet Griesel lost only to usual expert Gail Slam (307-412) as she recorded a 3-1 +87 final score. Janet “returned the favor” against expert Leslie Seltzer 387-361 in their closing game.
2nd Sharlie Miura took second with a strong 2-1 +13 outing. Sharlie dispatched June Scott 313-221 in their final game where neither player was fortunate in finding a playable bingo.
3rd Newbie Peter Schmiedicke ended his first night at an impressive 2-1 -85, and finished in 3rd as he bingoed out with RESALES to upend Mary Becker who was playing a 2vs1 final game.
19 scrabble players met at Covenant this week... Charles Reinke was awarded the $4 prize for the highest “P” play (PHARISEE) (in PERP), Dee Lillge captured the low E at 6, and the high R was awarded to Andy Bohnsack and the final P snared by Richard Lauder at 8 points.
Two new players tested the waters, Peter Schmiedicke and Scott Elder, and both emerged with wins in what both saw as tough competition. Will they be back for more? We hope so.
THOMAS REINKE’S 4-0 AGAIN TOPS EXPERT
1st Thomas Reinke ran his current winning streak to 8 straight, after he narrowly escaped in his first game of the night with a 430-425 win vs. Lynda Finn. His ten bingoes tied him with Richard Lauder for the nights “Bingo King” honors as well.
2nd Andy Bohnsack finished in 2nd on a 4-1 +148 performance. Andy also had his hands full when he managed a scant 16 point win (426-410) against Shayla Dunn. Andy had only a single bingo (ROOFERS) in that close calling.
3rd Lynda Finn finished 3rd with a 3-1 +371. Lynda’s quest for a “400 average” in the stats is off to a good start as she carries a 432 average into her third week in year 27. Lynda’s big game this week was her 444-245 two bingo win (SUBDEAN, NOSTRIL) vs. newly returned expert Geri Holmes.
SUE GOLDSTEIN’S 3-1 TOPS INTERMEDIATES
1st Sue Goldstein lost to an always dangerous Gail Salm 336-380 but won all her other three games to finish atop the Intermediates at 3-1 +36. Sue will miss this coming week but will join us again on October 5th.
2nd Gail Salm took second at 3-1 +32. Gail encountered expert Thomas Reinke in her final game and found herself on the short end of the straws with her 296-448 game. It was the only game she was unable to play at least one bingo in.
3rd Dee Lillge ended the night at 2-2 -124, enough to garner 3rd place in her group. She won a very close second game 283-265 with Aki Miura, a game in which Dee had bingo rack after bingo rack, but against Aki she never had a chance to see one of her “none-goes” hit the board.
