Stats for December 28, 2022
1st Thomas Reinke finished up the club season with a masterful 4-1 +539 performance. A series of Collins-lexicon games against Mark Kenas went well for Thomas, as he went 3-1 against the wily multiple-decade Scrabble veteran. The best of those games was in round one, where Thomas prevailed by a score of 548 to 329, thanks to bingos of DIORITES, STANNIC, AGGRIEVE, and BEMOILED#. The single game he lost, he lost just barely, with Mark beating him 447-443. Mark played NONTITLE and word of the week BODYSURF, while Thomas got down SERVITOR and GRATINEE.
2nd Richard Lauder also closed out the season with a strong outing, going 4-1 with a smaller +157 cumulative spread. Richard saved his best game for last, taking down Helen Flores 440-371 with bingos of UNITARD, ANALYSE, and NESTABLE. Helen had STUPIDER as her only bingo, a word which describes itself. Richard's spread took a massive hit when he faced off against Thomas Reinke and fared poorly, losing 277-427 despite a bingo of VOLTAGE.
With a 73.7% winning percentage and an average game score of 452, Thomas Reinke was club champion for the second straight year. Charles Reinke, winning 69.1% of his games and averaging 450, was second place, while Bryan Benwitz at 60.8% wins and a 427 average, was third. Here's hoping for a 2023 with bountiful bingos for all and not too many IUUW draws.
