1st Charles Reinke easily recorded another first-place finish thanks to his 4-1 +492 record. A large chunk of those spread points were gained at the expense of Thomas Reinke, as the first of their two contests ended quite lopsidedly in favor of Charles, 503-340. In that match, Charles unleashed a trio of high-probability bingos (NITROSO, CORSETED, ENLISTED) while Thomas had the more uncommon TEABERRY (which anagrams to the easier-to-spot BETRAYER). However, in their second contest, Thomas took back the initiative in their seventeen-years-running series with a 387-435 win, despite Charles' find of UNIBROW. Since Charles was playing in a 2-on-1 at the time, the pain of that loss was salved by a 417-366 victory over Peter Schmiedicke, who found that his impressively low-scoring bingo of OLEASTER for 57 points just wasn't quite enough.
2nd Helen Flores finished with a strong win-loss record of 3-1 but a less strong spread of -118 which was nevertheless good for second place. The brighest-shining jewel on her jewel-encrusted crown was a dangerously close 419-416 win over current club standings leader Thomas Reinke. Helen outbingoed the normally bingo-crazed Thomas 2-1, playing OVERRAN and TANGLERS to Thomas' sole DRESSING. Helen also has a solid 383-327 win over Sara McLaughlin thanks to a bingo of OUTSPAN. However, a 352-456 loss to Charles Reinke, who played the triple-triple BONNETED for 158 points in his winning effort, spelled doom for Helen's cumulative point spread for the night.
